What Is a Fingerprint
Each issue is assigned a unique fingerprint — a hash of the page URL, WCAG criterion, issue type, and element selector. This uniquely identifies a specific problem on a specific page.
How Status Carries Forward
When you resolve or dismiss an issue, the status is tied to the fingerprint. On subsequent scans, if the same fingerprint is detected, the resolved or dismissed status carries forward automatically.
When Fingerprints Change
If the element’s HTML changes significantly (restructured tag, moved in the DOM), the fingerprint changes and the issue may appear as new. This is by design — a changed element should be re-evaluated.
Data Retention by Tier

Issue statuses (resolved, dismissed) persist as long as the option data exists. Scan results are cleaned up according to the retention schedule.
